Every year we turn the floor over to professional sports gambler Mark Franco when the Super Bowl rolls around for his look at the big game, consisting of his favorite proposition bets. He has had a lot of success over the years and has had a knack for correctly picking his proposition wagers.
This year, Franco will share his top five bets. Keep in mind that the odds that you find will vary among various sportsbooks and prop wagers are known to carry bigger differences than straight bets, so be sure to shop around for the best odds and best numbers which you can find before making your bets.
A sportsbook which caters more to the general betting public, like Bovada, is more likely to have higher odds posted on individual players, such as the number of passing yards which Tom Brady throws for than a sportsbook which caters to sharper players, such as Bookmaker. (For instance, Bovada has the over/under on Tom Brady’s passing yards at 260.5 with the over -130 and the under even.
Carbon Sports has the number at 265.5 with the over or the under both at -115, whereas GTbets has the number at 269.5 with the over -105 and the under -125.)
And now, here is Mark Franco:
Super Bowl XLIX Props: New England vs. Seattle
When wagering proposition wagers for the Super Bowl every year I avoid anything which is based on luck. I look for an edge in any way I can find while also always looking for value. Here are some simply game and player props I believe have true value in the numbers.
More points will be scored in:
Second Half + OT – ½ (-125) (#288 at Station Casinos)
Look for both teams to feel each other out in the first half and both to make adjustments at half-time which will result in more points in the second-half.
Team to receive the opening kickoff:
Patriots (-110) (#145 at William Hill)
My educated prediction is if the Patriots win the coin toss they will receive and start on offense. If the Seahawks win I believe they will defer and start the game on defense and get the ball to start the second-half.
Largest lead in the game: 13.5
Under (+150) (#208 at William Hill)
Solid value here for me as I see this being a close game throughout with neither team having a two touchdown lead at any point in the game.
Three unanswered scores in game:
No (+155) (#232 at William Hill)
This would be a tricky props but I thinkwe see a tight game with no team scoring three times in a row. Good value at plus 155 or slightly lower.
Rushing Yards: Marshawn Lynch
Over 82.5 (-110) (#5483 at Westgate LV)
At 5 feet 11, 215 pounds, Lynch plays bigger than that, which is why he earns that Beast Mode nickname. His thick legs and powerful running style have made many a defender miss. Lynch ran for 1,304 yards this season, and has added 216 yards in two playoff games to help get Seattle to the Super Bowl. The Seahawks boast the NFL’s No. 1 rushing offense and Lynch will not come off the field in a tight game. I see great value in this number and I look for him to eclipse this rushing total as my best prop wager on the board.
